I was extremely disappointed when I got this drive because it did not have a SATA cable and there was no mention of it when I purchased the drive. The drive performs fine but I had to drive almost 60 miles just to purchase the SATA cable. So, you can add at least $19.00 to the cost of the drive to get it up and running.

This drive works great. The performance of a 7200RPM drive makes a great difference. They come with great manufacturer warranties. The high 32mb buffer cache really helps to rapidly move any data as well. I would highly recommend this product.

I purchase 4 of these drives for my DROBO about 5 months ago. Since then I’ve had 4 failures to date. I will never buy one for these again. I never had any problems with Seagate hard drives before but these just suck.

BUYER BEWARE! Stay away from this product. I purchased this drive in February and within one month it had a catastrophic mechanical failure. It was also diagnosed with corrupt firmware. This is the worst hard drive I have ever owned.

I bought this drive and proceeded to transfer data from three other hard drives. I had read about the failure due to bad firmware and confirmed that the drive i purchased was not suspect to this problem.
I transferred 700GB of data and within 2 weeks was able to access none of it. I was replacing a failed Hitachi with this drive so I have lost my user accounts on my Vista machine. This drive cost me 2 years worth of data.
So I figured I would call Seagate and figure out whats up. I was on hold for 35 minutes before I gave up. The drive was clicking so I knew it wasnt firmware related. So I returned it and got a new drive. I figured I would wait for the new on to go and see what happens.
When I got home, I installed it in my computer and withing 5 minutes the NEW drive was CLICKING!!!!
I have never purchased Seagate before and I never will.
