Scary Movie 4

Description
The Scary Movie gang is back for their funniest, most fearless installment yet. -Starring Anna Faris & Regina Hall (previous Scary Movie films), Leslie Nielsen (The Naked Gun, Airplane), Carmen Electra (Cheaper by the Dozen 2)Amazon.com
Some comedy is like a scalpel; the Scary Movie series is a hand grenade, spewing bodily fluids and big-breasted women in all directions as they lampoon the latest horror. In Scary Movie 4’s case, the main targets are War of the Worlds, The Village, The Grudge, Saw, and Tom Cruise jumping all over Oprah’s couch (the scariest of the lot). Along the way, potshots get taken at non-horror fare like Brokeback Mountain and Million Dollar Baby, as well as obvious targets like Michael Jackson and George W. Bush, among others. Anna Faris (Lost in Translation) and Regina Hall (The Honeymooners) return as the central characters wandering through a crazy quilt of horror scenarios, joined by Craig Bierko (Cinderella Man) doing a dead-o… More >>

After watching “Scary Movie 3″ & “Date Movie” I was skeptical to say the least about “Scary Movie 4″. To my surprise I was pleasantly impressed with part 4. It won’t win any awards mind you, but the director/actors hit it right on the head with this installment. The one thing if nothing else keeping this film afloat is the guy spoofing Tom Cruise, he’s absolutely hilarious. “SM4″ pokes fun at such films as “The Grudge”, “War Of The Worlds”, “Brokeback Mountain”(about the only good thing to come outta that movie was this & the Oscar’s parody), “Dawn Of The Dead”, “The Village” & “Saw” to name a few. Leslie Nielson also does a GREAT bUSH impression, honestly I think I’d feel more safe with Leslie’s bush running the country rather than the real thing. An ape apearing to be “King Kong” graces the cover of the DVD yet is no where to be found in the actual movie(there could maybe be something after the credits, I didn’t watch that far). I watched the “Unrated” version & once again it’s really nothing more than a marketing ploy, because there’s nothing racey about this version. The cover also boasts about “2 Hours Of Bloopers, outtakes & Deleted Scenes”, however unless there’re some serious easter eggs thats just another blatent lie. So to sum it all up, this is the best “Scary Movie” since the first one. The movie itself is great, the rest of the DVD package, not so much, and that’s why I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5.

P.S. I’ve read a couple other reveiws complaining about plot. Honestly, if you’re looking for plot or substance, you’ve come to the wrong place. Anyone trying to use their brain while watching this movie obviously doesn’t have one. Just so people know this is stupid, spoof comedy, anyone looking for more should look elsewhere. Turn your brain off at the door & have a good laugh, don’t expect to be enlightened.

  4. I am a fan of any movie whose goal is to do nothing but crack a few meaningless jokes now and then … (which is what all of the scary movie film’s have done thusfare). I also must confess their corny catchy jokes have often made me laugh on more than one or two occasions BUT I also have to say that as all film series eventually have to do at some point, that this should be that point where it needs to retire, the reason I say this is because they have nearly lost the entire cast, crew & even some of the producers. This film would still appeal to some audiences such as teenagers and younger men but overall this film is the worst out of the series (in a close one with the third…) and failed to make me laugh as much as the others (besides the third), though there are a few fun crude remarks that made me chuckle a little this film showed absolutly nothing new from the others and was not up to par with what I thought It could be … (mostly because some of the movies it made fun of were not a hard target to make a mockery of…) but hey it pretty much does it’s job …

    Grade: C-

P.S Dont spend the money to see this in the theatre its the exact same as it would be on D.V.D …
